El proceso de independencia de América
The French invasion will be the immediate trigger of the independence process. The self-proclamation of Cádiz as depositary of the dynastic rights and safeguard of the unity of Spain, was not enough. Latin America was debated between complying with Spanish authority, with the risk of ending up becoming a French colony, or taking the initiative as its own power. The Spanish authorities decided on fidelity to Cádiz, while the revolutionaries bet on the autonomous management of power. Thus begins a path in which the fluctuations of the peninsular situation will influence the evolution of the independence process.
The independence of America have different causes, these are divided in two, the internal and the external causes. The external are the ideas of the enlightment, the spanish succession war, the french revolution, the expansion of the french army under Napoleon, and the independence of the 13 colonies.
